In the early 20th century, as women gained voting rights and entered the workforce, their clothing underwent a profound evolution, reflecting their changing roles and aspirations. From the restrictive corsets and modest, tailored attire of the 1900s-1910s to the more liberated, menswear-influenced styles of the 1910s-1920s, the transition was marked by a shift towards greater freedom and expression. My creative pursuit is to blend these contrasting identities, seamlessly merging feminine elements like lace and delicate drapery with the structured elegance of menswear. Inspired by the timeless charm of chemises and the intricate beauty of lace, I aim to revive and reinterpret these lost elements, infusing them into contemporary silhouettes that resonate with the modern woman. Ultimately, I advocate for a future where sartorial choices transcend gender norms, allowing individuals to express themselves authentically and confidently, regardless of societal expectations.
